In today's rapidly evolving world, digital technology has become an indispensable tool across all careers, transcending boundaries and revolutionising traditional practices. Its importance lies in its ability to enhance efficiency, creativity, and communication in virtually every field. From data analysis and project management to marketing and design, software and tools make complex tasks simpler, allowing individuals to focus on higher-level problem-solving and innovation.

  • Raise awareness of the importance of Digital Technology for future employment
  • Increase student participation and attainment in Digital Technology and STEM-related education, training and career pathways

Prepare for an exciting immersion into the diverse landscape of digital technology careers. Go behind the scenes at some of Geelong’s amazing organisations and learn how digital technology is used every day to foster innovation and improve the quality of life for Geelong’s citizens.

Learn about the interesting roles and pathways that lead to an exciting and impactful career.

Program format

  • Students experience a variety of industry workplaces over four days.
  • Host organisations will provide an introduction and overview of the organisation, a panel of employees to discuss their career journey, opportunity for a group activity or roundtable discussions and a site tour of work areas.
  • A module runs for 1 day (between 9.30am and 2.30pm) with industry partners hosting a morning or afternoon session (2 to 2.5hrs duration).

Important notes for schools:

  • The expectation is that students complete all modules in the World of Work programs.
  • The programs are capped for student numbers, and early registrations will take priority.
  • Students will need to make their own transport arrangements to and from the arranged meeting point per program, at the specified time which will be advised on confirmation of the student's registration.
  • Programs generally run between 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.
  • May require commitment of a teaching resource from participating schools to attend/assist on tour days.
  • Schools can be subsidised CRT costs to enable a supervising teacher to attend.
