Course description

This course provides learners with the opportunity for career exploration in emerging technologies. It builds the knowledge and skills applicable to:

  • Explore industry career options
  • Prepare for further vocational education and training and/or higher education 
  • Gain employment and further training through a traineeship or apprenticeship 
  • Gain employment in entry-level jobs where evolving technology is a core function.

Two emerging specialty streams provide students with technical skills and knowledge using emerging and evolving technologies in industry. These specialty streams include:

  • Digital entrepreneurship
  • Social media

Possible career outcomes

This course prepares learners for entry level job roles across a range of industry sectors. students may undertake a range of support roles in:

  • Design of interactive digital media components 
  • Help desk support providing technical advice to clients
  • Web development and digital content design
  • Social media and online tools

Entrance requirements

  • Applicants must be 15 years and over at the time of course commencement.
  • Applicants are expected to have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 10 or Year 11 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2.
  • Any student under the age of 17 must provide an Exemption from School form prior to undertaking the course.
  • You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Free TAFE. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.

Pre-training review

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
