The Certificate II in Salon Assistant course provides the basic knowledge and skills required to work in a hairdressing or beauty salon. Students gain genuine hands-on experience working with real clients in our on-campus training salon.
You will learn how to interact with customers professionally and gain a broad overview of the hair and beauty industry with a strong focus on communicating in the workplace and helping senior colleagues.
Students will develop their skills through the high-quality training resources and highly experienced, industry current educators.
Students will learn how to shampoo hair to an industry standard, greet and prepare clients for salon services as well as braid hair, dry hair to shape and recommend and sell retail products. Students will also gain experience in working in a salon environment through their SWL/placement.
You will gain skills in greeting and preparing clients for salon services and upon completion of this course, you can become a salon assistant, or receptionist.
If you are studying your full VCE or VCE-VM program at The Gordon you can include a VETDSS course as part of your VCE program. Apply for a VETDSS course.
Important Information:
We recommended that the students obtain a work placement or work experience in a Hairdressing or Beauty Salon. Two weeks in the term break or one day per week is recommended to support students learning. Students are responsible for organising their own work experience.
