Course description

To gain your Victorian Building Authority (VBA) licence, you must complete this stream, Certificate IV in Plumbing - Business and Estimating, along with any of the specialist courses below:

CPC40920 Certificate IV in Plumbing - Drainage
CPC40920 Certificate IV in Plumbing - Gasfitting Work

These courses include an external VBA exam linked to your chosen area once you have completed your stream of choice.

Entrance requirements

    • Applicants must be 17 years and over at the time of course commencement.
    • Applicants are expected to have literacy and numeracy skills at Year 11 or Year 12 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3.
    • Applicants must hold Certificate III in Plumbing and hold a relevant plumbing registration with the VBA
    • In order to complete the VBA requirements and sit the licensing exam, you must be eligible for plumbing registration in the class you are seeking. The Plumbing Regulations 2018 introduced a minimum requirement that must be met in order for a registered plumber to apply for their plumbing licence. You will need an apprenticeship and two years of experience (after your apprenticeship) or six years of experience (if you have not completed an apprenticeship).     • You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Free TAFE. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.

Pre-training review

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Please note that the listed electives are delivered by The Gordon but you may not need to complete all of these units to successfully complete this qualification. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
