Health and Community Services Induction

Do you have an empathetic nature, good people skills and are looking for flexible work? Then a career in health or community services may be what you are looking for. 

But where do you start?  

The CHCSS00088- Induction Skill Set is an introductory group of units that provide you with competencies required for a range of qualifications across health and community services, allowing you to learn more about these industries to help you decide on your career pathway and even gain credits and work skills that could make commencing a traineeship in these fields easier. This 6 week health and community services induction program is designed to teach you to communicate and work in industry, work with diverse people, follow safe work practices and to manage personal stressors at work.  

After completing the course, you may pathway to the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) or CHC32015 - Certificate III in Community Services at The Gordon, or may wish to develop your transferrable skills further and continue to explore career options through the 22630VIC Cert III in Community Services, Health Support and Digital Technologies*. 

* not currently offered by The Gordon 

For those not eligible for funding, you may apply for a sponsored scholarship positions, however, there are limited numbers.

This program is a pilot for a Department of Education - WTIF for the 22630VIC - Certificate III in Community Services, Health Support and Digital Technologies.

Entrance requirements

    • Applicants are expected to have literacy skills at Year 11 or Year 12 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3 and numeracy skills at Year 10 or Year 11 or Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2.
    • You must reside in Victoria to access Victorian Government Subsidised Fees and any incentive such as Free TAFE. Full fees apply to all non-Victorian residents.

Pre-training review

Each student must complete a pre-training review as part of their application. The outcome of your pre-training review assists our teachers and trainers to better understand your capabilities prior to training and enables you to be matched to the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated and you may be required to undertake a separate assessment. Follow this link for more information about literacy and numeracy skills.

Please note that the listed electives are delivered by The Gordon but you may not need to complete all of these units to successfully complete this qualification. If you have previously completed any of the units of competency relevant to this course, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
