Entry requirements

  • Attending a secondary school
  • Successful completion of Year 10 with the equivalent literacy and numeracy levels
  • Students selecting this course are recommended to have strong maths skills
  • Review the personal learning requirements essential to this course and discuss with your school VET Coordinator before you apply.

You will learn

  • Practical skills in using common hand tools, equipment, fixing and securing electrotechnology components
  • Fabricate, assemble, and dismantle components used in the utilities industry
  • Solve problems in low d.c. voltage circuits
  • Knowledge of electrical principles including air-conditioning, data communication, solar and the energy sector
  • Work safely with electricity and understand electrical hazards

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program you will receive:

  • Recognition of up to two VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level, and a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence.
  • ATAR contribution: if you receive a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence you may be eligible for an increment towards your ATAR.
  • Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Pre-vocational) qualification.
