Thinking of Becoming a Scholarship Benefactor?

0001-01-01

How do I become a benefactor?

Easy! Simply contact the Student Scholarships Officer and you will be guided through the process. The work will be done for you, with your input along the way.

Where will my donation go?

Your donation will go directly towards helping a financially disadvantaged student at The Gordon to reach their career goals. No administrative fees are deducted – 100% of your donation goes towards a student’s fees, books and study expenses. At the end of the year you will receive a report from your scholar outlining how the scholarship was spent and how it benefitted them.

How is the scholarship managed?

The Student Scholarships Officer will look after all facets of the scholarship administration process. This includes:

  • creation of your Scholarship (selection criteria, terms and conditions, etc)
  • marketing
  • management of the online application process
  • oversee scholarship selection panels
  • organise the annual Scholarship Evening
  • production of scholarship printed collateral; such as promotional posters and scholarship certificates (including your business logo if relevant)

How will I be involved?

As a benefactor you can have as little or as much involvement in the scholarship selection process as you choose. The scholarship will be created in accordance with your wishes i.e. who will receive the scholarship (will it be awarded to a student in a particular course or vocation, will it be awarded to a specific student demographic, or will it be an open scholarship available to anyone studying at The Gordon?)

You can be involved in any or all of the following:

  • short listing
  • interviews
  • selection

As the scholarship benefactor you will have final say in how the scholarship is awarded. You will also be invited to the Scholarship Evening to present your scholarship to the successful recipient/s. This is a special event held in October each year.
