Gordon beauty student, Grace Harding, training at The GordonWith the unique opportunity to transform a mood and guide a client into a relaxing experience, the role of a beauty therapist is highly rewarding and enjoyable.

Saltair Day Spa, a luxury spa with multiple locations along our region’s surf coast, understands all too well how important it is to have a team of highly trained professionals to deliver the signature treatments and therapies for which they are renowned. It is why their relationship with The Gordon has not only endured, but strengthened over time.

Managing Director, Tammy Grossman shared, “Saltair has had the pleasure of recruiting Gordon beauty graduates over the last decade, from placement positions to permanent employment, as well as ongoing scholarships to allow more opportunities to get qualifications in our wonderful industry.

“Each freshly qualified therapist takes a leap of faith when they begin their career after qualifying, but one thing we can guarantee at Saltair is that every therapist that we invite to join our mission becomes an incredibly special part of our family.”

Saltair’s Pathway Programs enables staff to begin their own journey, exploring and discovering what they have to offer and flourish in their chosen field. Whether that is skin, massage, social media or leadership, every therapist has the same opportunities, nurturing guidance and ongoing support to follow their own unique passions and grow beyond their expectations.

Presently, over 75 per cent of Saltair’s management team are Gordon beauty graduates, including Grace Harding who has moved into a managerial role at the world class venue.

“I got my first taste of the beauty industry whilst living in the UK, working as a receptionist. Seeing other beauty therapists completely change a client’s mood and brightening their day showed me the powerful impact a high-quality salon can have on the community. I fell in love with the culture and I wanted to take my experiences and transition this into a career”, said Ms Harding.

After returning home from overseas, Ms Harding trained at The Gordon, completing a Diploma of Beauty Therapy, “Training at The Gordon TAFE gave me the tool kit to provide clients a memorable experience. I learnt to be professional, presentable and respectful, all skills that are compulsory in gaining employment at a luxury day spa like Saltair Spa.”

Grace continues to grow her skills and her passion for an industry she is truly at home within. “Saltair worked with me from the beginning to help me achieve my goals as quickly as possible. I’ve attained the skills and ability to lead a group of beauty therapists in the day to day running of our health spa.

“Being able to provide clients with an experience, and not just a treatment, and knowing that it can change the whole path of someone’s day, is very rewarding.”
