Gordon staff and students walking_NAIDOC 2022Gordon staff and students have responded to the Clothing the Gaps Foundation virtual event to join the movement that is creating movement.

As part of the TAFEs NAIDOC Week celebrations, staff and students have come together for a 3km walk along Geelong’s foreshore, taking in the views of the lands of our traditional owners.

CEO of The Gordon Joe Ormeno said, “The activities and conversations we partake in throughout our NAIDOC Week celebrations are an important element of our ongoing engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and reaffirms our commitment to working with their wisdom, culture, spirituality and history.

“Our dedication to deliver inclusive and culturally appropriate training across our region is continuously developing and with a large number of staff and students participating in today’s walk, it is a strong demonstration that we are all actively working and learning together to achieve this”
continued Mr Ormeno.

The Clothing the Gap virtual walk is a nation-wide event that encourages social connection through physical activity by getting people moving across the Country. It reflects The Gordon’s vision where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people participate equally in all aspects of our education community.

“I believe that the only way forward is together. Sitting together, listening and talking together, working together and walking with courage together” said Mr Ormeno.
