After an extensive industry consultation project, The Gordon releases the Training Implementation Plan for the AgriTech Skills Builder Project.
In a significant stride toward revolutionising local agriculture, The Gordon, in partnership with the Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Actions, is excited to introduce the AgriTech Skills Builder Project. This innovative initiative, a result of extensive industry consultation, is set to equip the Geelong region's agriculture sector with cutting-edge skills, ensuring it thrives amidst dynamic challenges.
The AgriTech Skills Builder Project unveils a comprehensive Training Implementation Plan, featuring an array of micro-credential short courses, an immersive Industry Design Sprint, and empowering Women in Agribusiness events. Developed in collaboration with key industry stakeholders, the program places a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world applications. Participants will delve into practical skills and gain valuable experience, preparing them for the evolving demands of the agricultural landscape.
Dr. Yasmin Chalmers, Head of The Gordon’s Centre for Science and Tech, expressed her enthusiasm about the project, stating, “This plan captures the input from industry and provides vital information for individuals and businesses in the Geelong region. The Gordon is poised to lead this project, delivering top-notch educational training packages enriched with local content, up-to-date information, and vivid examples illustrating how agtech has revolutionised businesses.”
The AgriTech Skills Builder Project is made possible through the generous funding from the Victorian Government's Agriculture TAFE and Training Fund. This collaboration reflects a commitment to advancing the skills and knowledge base of the local agriculture community. For those eager to delve into the specifics, the comprehensive Training Implementation Plan is available at www.thegordon.edu.au/agritech. This hub also offers additional project resources and will be continuously updated as the project unfolds.
In early 2024, participants will have the unique chance to engage in the courses through a Pilot Program. Not only will they benefit from early access to the modules, but they will also play a crucial role in shaping the final published course. Individuals interested in being part of the Pilot Program are encouraged to express their interest through the online submission available on the project webpage www.thegordon.edu.au/agritech.
The AgriTech Skills Builder Project is poised to be a transformative force, enhancing the skills, knowledge, and resilience of Geelong's agriculture industry. This collaborative endeavour reflects a commitment to the future of agriculture, ensuring that local businesses and individuals are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
