Entry requirements

  • Attending a secondary school
  • Literacy and numeracy level equivalent to the successful completion of Year 9

You will learn

  • How to shampoo hair to an industry standard
  • Greet and prepare clients for services
  • Dry hair to shape for ladies and men's styling
  • Recommend and sell retail products
  • Maintain stock control

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program you will receive:

  • Recognition of up to four VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level
  • Certificate II in Salon Assistant qualification

Assessment is based on

  • Hands-on work
  • Practical Workplace Assessment as part of your mandatory Structured Workplace Learning 
  • Online assignments and quizzes
  • Live model practice and assessments undertaken in The Studio Salon (you are expected to experience all treatments and to provide your own models for assessment)
